It's A Small World

Stop: The Flaming Sideburns- Helsinki, Finland
Look: Glam metal excess meets rockabilly greasers
Listen: "The Flaming Sideburns Save Rock 'n' Roll"- With classic Stones guitars
and a singer who can croon like Lou Reed and wail like Jon Spencer, the Sideburns have
all of the ingredients necessary to create a crazy fun band. Exciting blues-driven
stompers like "Shake-In" and "Street Survivor" (which you may know from a current Toyata commercial) might
not single-handedly save rock but they definitely are helping the cause in a
big way.

Stop: Jet- Melbourne, Australia
Look: Vintage classic rock: long stringy hair, tight tees, and flared jeans
Listen:"Dirty Sweet" EP- Adopting their moniker from the Paul McCartney and Wings
tune, it should come as no surprise that these kids would be enamoured with the 70's.
Jet pairs heavy metal riffs with good ole American southern boogie rock. Add that to
3-part harmonies and no fear of the occasional slow jam, and what you've got is a quality debut from
another far-out band from down under.

Stop: Kinky- Monterey, Mexico
Look: South western casual: relaxed, comfortable, but never sloppy
Listen:"Kinky"- Individually, the band members are inspired by everything from
trip-hop to jazz to techno so it should come as no surprise that their sound is as
eclectic as their influences.
Spanish dialog lays on top of electro beats.
Traditional Latin instruments like marimba and timbales play alongside fly
organ grooves and funky guitars.
Mad dance beats bop side-by-side with accordian
solos.
This may sound like a clash of ideas, but trust us, it'll make your body move.
