Sharp-Dressed Men

Always a style maverick, SCOTT WEILAND was kitted out in a furry pink jacket in one of STP's first videos while other rock bands were wearing plaid flannel. These days, he digs a wide variety of sharper threads including beatnik black turtlenecks, pinstriped suits, and frilly tuxedo shirts.

According to Scott, "Suits are the most decadent fashion statement a rock star can make because it contrives rock fashion. And no one looks better in a suit than Bryan Ferry". (1999)

Often over-shadowed by Billy Corgan's penchant for dresses, former Smashing Pumpkin JAMES IHA was always the most stylin' of the band.

From skunk-striped hair, to brightly colored Hush Puppies, from dapper Saville Row suits to avant gard designers, James has always been three steps ahead of the trends and unwittingly setting them himself.

Hopefully he will continue with his own projects so that the rest of us can continue to try to keep up with what he is wearing.(1999)

Zip-a-di-do-da...The SQUIRREL NUT ZIPPERS did the nearly impossible by jitter-bugging their way onto alterna-rock radio.

Always dressed to the nines, the fellas wear sharp baggy suits (the better to jump around stage in) and cool skinny ties. The Squirrels are no strangers to second-hand and vintage shops.

Special kudos to Katharine who handles that banjo in style. ...zip-a-di-aye! (1998)

A little bit dandy and a little bit hipster dweeb, Pulp's main man JARVIS COCKER'S style is not easily defined.

He bounces back and forth from over-sized black-framed specs and under-sized charity shop sweaters to fab designer gear like the belted trouser suit for Glasto '98. He is also one of a small group of style-setter that helped bring mod-style suits back into fashion in the mid-90's.

With all that said, it's easy to see why Jarvis proves he is the coolest common person on the planet.(1998)

As the more flamboyant half of Erasure, ANDY BELL continuously outdoes himself, especially when Erasure's tours.

To promote their "Cowboy" album, Erasure had a stage set complete with covered wagons and campfires along with some of the most outrageous Wild West costumes ever. Sporting a black vinyl duster, steel cowboy hat, and various other sparkly and colorful togs, Andy showed a side of cowboy style that might have made Roy Rogers blush. (1998)
