Sharp-Dressed Men

Once the poster-boy for losers everywhere, has BECK transformed into a designer clothes customer? Well, maybe not completely, but this admitted Sears shopper now has the likes of Prada and Dries Van Noten in his closet. However, he still has not lost his indie-scenester sensibilities and in true Beck-style, the pricier threads most likely hang alongside thrift shop t-shirts and Salvation Army jackets.

And when awarded a VH-1 Fashion Award, Beck took it all in stride and thanked the voters for "honoring my appearence". (1997)

Urban cool, MAXWELL looks as smooth and soulful as his music. The Brooklyn native's grace and mellow demeanor have made him a favorite of the ladies.

Maxwell favors well-cut suits and shiny spread-collar shirts which are a perfect match for his lanky frame. However, you might just as easily catch the crooner a bit more casual, donning a tank top, knit cap, and baggy combat trousers.

But no matter what might be on his bod, Maxwell is always looks impeccable and polished. (1997)

Wild-man rockers THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION know how to scream and look damn good doing it.

Fab designer suits, brightly colored shirts, as well as western and vintage flavor are just the basics for this lot as are tight tee shirts and even tighter leather trousers. Jon's messy 70's pomp and side-burns is very reminiscent of a Vegas-era Elvis Presley.

With the threesome oozing terminal coolness, scissor-kicks, stage dives, and spastic dance moves are what you'll get at a JSBX show, as well as a somewhat elegantly wasted style. (1997)

While working backstage at one of Anna Sui's shows, DAVE NAVARRO walked in. He was rock star excess picture perfect in black leather pants, a fur coat, and lots of black eyeliner (and this was BEFORE he stepped onto the runway).

But this is normal for Dave, whether he's with Jane's Addiction, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, or flying solo. Like a modern day glitter rocker, he had the ability to dabble in make-up and women's wear and look just as masculine as if he were wearing a business suit and tie. He just wouldn't be nearly as interesting.(1997)

SPACEHOG'S wacky style combines glam and glitz, thrift store togs and futuristic gear.

Lead singer Royston often sports crazy shades a la Elton John along with Bowie-esque body glitter.

However, the biggest fashion statement came at one of their live shows. Ant, guitarist and Roy's bro, dove into the audience and returned to the stage with his drawers around his ankles and no knickers in sight.(1997)
