The Fever

The Fever |
A pre-New Years show at NYC's Mercury Lounge had some of the city's
finest spreading some holiday cheer and sweating it out on stage
before a super-packed audience that sardines would have envied.
The Fever are quickly gaining a following after only a year of
playing together and after watching them live, it's pretty easy to see why. Their sound
combines everyone from the usual 70's punk suspects The Stooges and Television to
Cyndi Lauper and Muddy Waters. Pair that with the cardio-workout onstage antics of main
man Geremy and a tight rhythm section, and you've got a band that's ready to explode.
A little better known were The Realistics. Fun and poppy and wearing, as The Fader Magazine
so eloquently put it, "nut-hugging pants that defy the laws of male anatomy", the foursome
who have been together for several years is only now getting it's just rewards due to the so-called
NYC "garage rock" explosion. But seriously, who can resist a band who makes your head bop whilst wondering
"How does Dennis hit those high notes?" (maybe it's the pants).
