Tooned in, Turned On

The Flintstones (1960-1970)- The Way-outs, the Beau Brummelstones, the Bedbugs, Jimmy Darrock, and some smashing lad called Rock Roll all made their way through Bedrock at one time or another. Also making an appearance was rock impresario Brian Eppystone who was responsible for Pebbles and Bamm Bamm's hit song, "Open Up Your Heart (and Let the Sun Shine In)".

The Jetsons (1962-76)- Teen dream Jet Screamer organizes a contest with the grand prize being a date with himself (talk about your self-absorbed celebrity). Low and behold, lucky lady Judy Jetson wins. However, when Mr. Screamer accidentally gets a hold of Elroy's secret computer code, "Eep Op Ork Aha" becomes an intergalactic hit song.

Scooby-Doo (1969-86)-Sometimes those famously meddling kids needed help in solving some of their more complex mysteries and therefore, celebrities started making guest appearances in "The New Scooby-Doo Movies" (the new name for the series in 1972). Musical guest stars included Mama Cass Elliot, Sonny and Cher, Davy Jones, and some other kids called Josie and the Pussycats.

The Simpsons (1990-???)- Celebrities have been lining up to provide their voices to The Simpsons for almost as long as the show has been on the air. Throughout the decade-long run of this incredible program, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie have had many encounters with music's biggest names. Homer has proven to be quite the avid rock ‘n' roll fan himself, as was shown in past episodes including "Homerpalooza" which guest-starred Cypress Hill, Peter Frampton, Smashing Pumpkins, and Sonic Youth. In "How I spent My Summer Vacation", Marge discovers Homer's inner rock star and enrolls him in Rock ‘n'Roll Fantasy Camp (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Tom Petty, and Elvis Costello climbed aboard this one). We can't forget Bart, though, who has a bit of that pop star blood in him as well with an early-90's radio hit "Do the Bartman". He also had a turn as a member of boy band, Party Posse, in an episode that had the real N'Sync dancing on and off-screen.
The following is an attempt (and let's stress "attempt") to list all other music stars who have lent their voices to episodes of the Simpsons: Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Ringo Starr, Sting, Tom Jones, David Crosby, Barry White, Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Harrison, The Ramones, James Brown, Paul and Linda McCartney, Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, Johnny Cash, U2, The Moody Blues, Dolly Parton, Britney Spears, Shawn Colvin, Willie Nelson, The Who, Hank Williams Jr, Robbie Krieger and Phish.
