We're An American Band

Stop: Vue, San Francisco
Look: Super-tight threads and a lead singer who looks amazingly like Marc Bolan
Listen: "Death of a Girl"- With heart-wrenching lyrics and moody r&b driven rhythms, the Vue echos the darker side of theatrical rock. These qualities coupled with attitude-infused vocals and trashy guitars reveal the band's Birthday Party-roots. Their live performances are both hypnotizing and seductive so check them out next time they hit your city.

Stop: French Kicks, Brooklyn by way of DC
Look: Perfectly faded denim, perfectly draped scarves, and perfectly messy bed head
Listen: "One Time Bells"- With natural charisma and charm most bands can only dream of, the Kicks quickly gained a devoted local following with their irresistible power pop . But with three- part harmonies, crunchy guitars, and a swirling organ, (as well as a lead singer behind the drums), they have the bite to back up the buzz.

Stop: The Pattern, Oakland
Look: Everything from hip 60's scenester gear to dark goth-a-billy stylings.
Listen:"Real Feelness"- Onstage, lead vocalist Christopher Appelgren erupts into fits of garage-punk attitude, belting out songs in a soulful frenzy. With former members of Peechees, Saint James Infirmary, The Cutz and Nuisance, The Pattern deliver driving rhythms and dirty guitars too powerful to resist. When the music kicks in, get ready to shake. You're in for a mess of fun.

Stop: The Go, Detroit
Look: Super shags, drainpipe trousers, dark shades
Listen: "Whatcha Doin'" - Are we sure that these boys weren't making music in ‘68? The Go emerged from the Detroit garage rock scene sounding as though they exploded off the Nuggets boxset. Distorted guitars and aggressive white noise make their sound undeniably addictive. It's no wonder ? And the Mysterians chose them as an opening act.
