1. Turin Brakes Ether Song
These guys can do no wrong in my eyes... and ears. Their harmonies
give me the chills and lyrics make me weep. Seriously.
2. Kings of Leon Youth and Young Manhood
We've all heard it... the Allman Brothers meet the Strokes. Well,
that's about right. These down home southern boys know how to rock...
and their average age is only 20!
3. Ryan Adams Love is Hell: Part 1
Some of his best work, in my opinion. Simple ballads with serious
passion. And his cover of "Wonderwall"... oh my god! I love Oasis to
death, but this is the way this song should have sounded from the
get-go. Sorry, Noel.
4. The Sounds Living in America
Maja kicks ass... she's my hero. Her scratchy vocals against the neo
new-wave rock is something to behold.
5. Travis 12 Memories
Their long awaited 5th album takes my #5 spot. Fran Healy is one of
the best songwriters out there and his band ain't too shabby.
Nothing surprising with this album. Just good ole brit-pop to soothe
your soul. |
